Great Developments - September 10, 2008

·        Happy AL Week!  This week celebrates National Assisted Living Week.  Residents have been enjoying a variety of activities in recognition of this special event, including Grandparents tea and trivia; Connie Olsen's quilt presentation, special music by Brenda Striggow, TC Cheerleaders performance, and making smores.

·        Housekeeping Week.  Next week is National Housekeeping Week.  Thank you to all of the housekeeping staff at BVLH for keeping us in great shape!

·        Milo Days Parade.  Look for us on Saturday evening at the Milo Days Parade - we will be carrying the 60th anniversary banner and providing candy.

·        September Trivia.  Win a $60 gift certificate to Legacy Images if you correctly answer this month's trivia question.  Winner to be announced September 24th.  Generous gifts were given to Blue Valley that assisted with the financing of the Care Home, which was dedicated in 1991.  Name one of the donors recognized on plaques at the CH for their commitment.

·        Welcome 2nd graders!  TC second graders began another year of the foster grandparent reading program last week, joining us to read with Nursing Home and Assisted Living residents on Thursday afternoons.

·        Go Titans.  Thayer Central celebrates homecoming with the football game on Friday evening and a variety of events this week.

·        CH Happenings.  The last cook-out of the year for the residents and staff at the CH will be next Friday.  The CH has had a cook out one day each month during the warm summer months. Last week residents enjoyed a spontaneous van ride around Hebron and this week the McKellan sisters provided singing entertainment.

·        NH Carnival.  The fall carnival is planned for Saturday, September 20th.  Volunteers are still needed, please contact Jeanne if you are available to help.

·        Golf Tournament.  The annual BVLH golf tournament takes place this Friday!  Silent auction items are available for display until Thursday, and bids can be called in to Allyson at 768-3366 until approximately 4:00 p.m. on Friday.  We look forward to great weather and 27 teams participating in this event.  Thank you to the many staff members and volunteers who help make this event a great success.
